IKEA will try to break the World Record for the Largest Gathering of People in Two-Piece Pajamas.

IKEA is gearing up for an intriguing event that is poised to kickstart a global campaign aimed at enhancing sleep quality. On the upcoming 28th of August, the company plans to attempt breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing two-piece pajamas in Älmhult, Sweden, the birthplace of this iconic furniture brand.

Despite growing awareness regarding the significance of sleep, many still struggle to achieve quality rest. According to the recent IKEA Life at Home Report, 55% of individuals regard sleep as the most vital wellness activity at home. However, data shows that up to half of the adult population is dissatisfied with their sleep quality, impacting their daily functionality, mood, work performance, and mental well-being. What’s more, these issues with poor quality sleep disproportionately affect socioeconomically disadvantaged groups even more. IKEA asserts that a good night’s sleep is crucial for a better daily life and should be accessible to everyone, irrespective of their lifestyle, living conditions, or financial status.

Fredrika Inger, the Managing Director of IKEA Sweden, says, “For decades, IKEA has been dedicated to understanding and improving people’s sleep quality. As poor sleep continues to be a significant societal issue, we are stepping up our efforts. In recent years, we’ve made our sleep solutions more enduring, sustainable, comfortable, and affordable, all in a bid to help more people achieve better rest. With our extensive experience and global reach, we have the chance to improve both the days and nights of hundreds of millions.”

A Year of Sleep-Focused Initiatives

The world record attempt marks the beginning of a year-long comprehensive campaign to promote six key factors for better sleep: Comfort, Light, Sound, Temperature, Air, and Decluttering and Storage. Through the year, IKEA will undertake new comprehensive research, share valuable insights and practical tips on enhancing sleep quality, and launch new affordable products.

Sharing an Approach to Better Sleep

Creating the appropriate sleeping environment and establishing nighttime routines are essential for quality sleep, but many lack the resources or knowledge to do so. With 80 years of home furnishing experience, IKEA is dedicated to understanding how the home can support improved sleep. Extensive research into different cultures’ sleep patterns and challenges has informed the development of the company’s sleep solutions.

Fredrika Inger adds, “We recognize that many people face challenges living in small and shared spaces, where cluttered and disorderly environments make it difficult to foster an ideal sleeping ambiance. We’ve listened to our customers in developing our range of comprehensive sleep solutions to better meet their diverse needs, allowing everyone to create their own comfortable, restorative sleeping environment.”

With this event and the subsequent campaign, IKEA aims not only to enhance the sleep of millions but also to underscore its commitment to home innovation and global well-being.
