Samsung Electronics announced today that seven models of its 2024 Neo QLED and QLED lineup are the first in the industry to receive both True Cinema Black certification and HDR Brightness Accuracy certification from the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), a leading institute for electrical engineering certification in Germany.
“Technology continues to advance, allowing us to deliver an unparalleled cinematic experience in our customers’ homes,” said Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President and Deputy Head of Samsung’s Visual Display Business R&D Team. “We are committed to setting the highest standards of image quality in high-resolution, large-screen TVs, and we are proud that our Neo QLED TVs have achieved these pioneering certifications in the VDE industry.”
Six of Samsung’s 2024 Neo QLED 8K and 4K models, as well as one QLED 4K model, have received the industry’s first certification in HDR brightness accuracy. This certification ensures that these models accurately reproduce the brightness levels of HDR content, remaining true to HDR standards and offering image quality that closely resembles what the human eye perceives.
HDR technology enhances both bright and dark areas of an image, providing detailed and realistic visuals that bring movies to life. Whether in the living room, bedroom, office, or kitchen, Samsung’s Neo QLED and QLED TVs offer customers the opportunity to enjoy exceptional cinematic quality in any environment.
These seven models from Samsung’s 2024 Neo QLED and QLED lineup have also set a new standard in home entertainment by becoming the first to receive True Cinema Black certification, which highlights exceptional local dimming performance. The TVs are capable of transforming wide aspect ratio movies into a 4:3 format, adjusting the screen precisely without unwanted light effects, thereby preserving cinematic integrity.
The certification is based on strict evaluations of black levels in the chart area, ensuring that these areas remain deeply immersive when viewing official images from the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) under the guidelines of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA®). Superior local dimming performance eliminates unwanted light interference, allowing viewers to experience movies as they were intended, with deep blacks and vivid details, akin to the cinema experience.
Samsung’s commitment to innovation and quality has led to the development of TVs that meet the highest industry standards. With True Cinema Black and HDR Brightness Accuracy certifications, the 2024 Neo QLED lineup is poised to deliver an unparalleled home viewing experience, enabling users to enjoy world-class image quality in any environment.
