Increase in Real Estate Occupation in Spain in 2024 According to the Ministry of Interior

The phenomenon of property occupation in Spain has put authorities on alert, with a significant increase in cases in 2024. According to data from the Ministry of Interior, a total of 16,426 incidents of trespassing or usurpation have been reported, representing an increase of 1,137 cases compared to the 15,289 reported in the previous year. This upward trend marks a significant change, as it ends a streak of declines observed since 2022.

Among the autonomous communities, Catalonia emerges as the most affected, with a total of 7,009 cases, which is an increase of 724 incidents compared to 2023. Other regions such as Andalusia, with 2,207 cases; Valencia, which reported 1,767; and Madrid, with 1,451 incidents, have also experienced a notable increase in property occupation. In contrast, communities with fewer cases include Melilla, with only 11 reports, Ceuta with 14, and La Rioja, which has 65.

Despite the chilling number of cases, the Ministry of Interior has indicated that 12,263 of them have been solved. However, 4,163 cases remain unresolved at a national level, with 1,277 of them in Catalonia. This context has led to an increase in demand for companies dedicated to property eviction, such as Okupas Fuera, which specializes in the recovery of illegally occupied homes and management of delinquent tenants.

Okupas Fuera stands out for its efficient and agile approach, offering solutions to owners and companies facing occupation issues without resorting to aggressive methods. Through negotiation with squatters, the company facilitates a process that could otherwise be complex and tedious. This approach not only relieves the burden of unresolved cases, but also seeks to shorten the length of legal processes, providing owners with a faster path to the recovery of their properties.
