Inditex reinforces its sustainability and digitalization strategy with BIM.

Inditex, the Galician multinational leader in the textile sector, has decided to take a significant step towards a more sustainable and efficient future, with the goal of achieving significant milestones by the year 2030. The company, globally recognized for its impact on the fashion industry, aims to reduce its carbon emissions and optimize its operations through the adoption of advanced technologies and the use of renewable energies.

At the core of this transition towards sustainability is the implementation of the BIM methodology (Building Information Modeling). This innovative tool, primarily used in architecture and civil engineering, is already being incorporated into Inditex’s Technological Department and is being extended to its suppliers. The BIM methodology is essential for the efficient design of its facilities, centralizing geometric and documentary information in a collaborative digital model. This process involves the collaboration of experts such as the Catalan architecture firm Batlleiroig, a frequent partner of the company.

In addition to these technological innovations, Inditex has announced the creation of a wind farm for self-consumption located in Punta Langosteira, near its headquarters in A Coruña. This initiative, expected to begin operating in 2026, represents the company’s firm commitment to renewable energies.

Inditex’s goals go beyond the adoption of sustainable materials. The company has committed to reducing its emissions by 50% for scope 3 and 90% for scopes 1 and 2, emphasizing its dedication to sustainability throughout the supply chain and energy consumption.

The company’s strategy also includes a focus on the open BIM philosophy, which facilitates the exchange of information among all those involved in a project, promoting cost and waste reduction. This approach ensures that both large and small companies have access to these technologies, reinforcing Inditex’s commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.

With these advancements, Inditex not only solidifies its position as a leader in fashion but also sets an example as a pioneer in the implementation of sustainable and responsible business strategies, standing out in the global effort towards a greener and more ethical future.
