Innovation in Solutions for the Housing Shortage

The housing shortage of 600,000 units in Spain, coupled with rising costs and a lack of skilled labor, has highlighted the urgent need for a transformation in the traditional construction model. In this context, La Casa de Hormigón emerges as an innovative and sustainable solution, contributing to the development of modular construction and aligning with the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) promoted by the government.

This PERTE aims to modernize the construction sector by promoting industrialized systems that allow for faster delivery of homes, with less environmental impact and lower energy costs for citizens. La Casa de Hormigón, a leading Spanish company in the construction of homes using reinforced concrete panels, is at the forefront of this model that has already proven its effectiveness in Europe.

The construction system it uses allows for the delivery times of housing to be reduced from the traditional 10 to 12 months to just 5 to 7 months. Additionally, its concrete panels, which combine an exterior of visible brick made in collaboration with Cerámicas La Paloma, make it possible to build upwards with just half the employees required for conventional construction, also addressing the labor shortage.

This model not only optimizes time and resources but also increases sustainability standards. Thanks to the double acoustic and thermal insulation of its panels, along with the integration of energy solutions such as solar panels and radiant floors, homeowners can enjoy a comfortable environment, isolated from external noise and with a stable interior temperature, resulting in significant savings on energy bills.

José Manuel Ruiz, CEO of La Casa de Hormigón, emphasizes the importance of modular construction as a necessity rather than a trend. “We have been demonstrating for years that it is possible to build faster, with fewer resources and better results. The PERTE not only legitimizes this path but can also accelerate its adoption throughout Spain, and La Casa de Hormigón is ready to lead this change,” he says.

Founded in 2021 with 100% Spanish capital, La Casa de Hormigón is dedicated to the construction of industrialized houses with fully assemblable panels. By 2024, the company had reached a turnover of 3.5 million euros and generated 70 direct and indirect jobs. For 2025, an 80% increase in turnover is projected, with the opening of 10 new branches and the creation of up to 80 additional jobs.
