Innovations and trends in workspace for the return in 2024

The French custom equipment brand Schmidt examines trends in workspace design

The way we work has evolved over the years, and with it, workspace design trends, offering more functional yet aesthetic designs. In this context, the company Schmidt, a specialist in custom equipment, has selected the top five striking innovations that meet the need to create environments that inspire and encourage teamwork and creativity.

Anne Leitzgen, President of Schmidt Groupe, says, “Workspace design trends are focused on creating environments that promote well-being, productivity, and collaboration while maintaining a strong emphasis on flexibility and customization.”

Furniture focused on well-being

Well-being in the workplace is essential, given the many hours spent during the workday. Schmidt Groupe notes, “It’s essential to have ergonomic furniture that promotes comfortable postures and reduces the risk of injuries from repetitive movements.”

Spaces that promote collaboration

Teamwork remains a priority for most companies, which is why one of the trends is to find that space through desks that, thanks to their design, promote productive conversations and meetings. There’s a balance sought between the need for interaction and the need for privacy.

Sustainable materials

The commitment to sustainability is increasingly becoming a priority, and the furniture used in a company is a good example of its support for the environment. Thus, it’s common to find products made from recycled, recyclable, and sustainably sourced materials, such as certified wood, eco-friendly fabrics, and non-toxic finishes. Additionally, focusing on durability ensures that furniture has a prolonged life span, thus reducing environmental impact.

Schmidt places significant importance on this aspect; in fact, the wood for the furniture comes from sustainably managed forests with PEFC certification.

Adaptable and flexible spaces

“More and more, companies are opting for flexible spaces with adaptable furniture that can be easily reconfigured for different uses, from height-adjustable desks to modular tables that can be joined or separated according to each worker’s needs,” Schmidt announces. This facilitates both teamwork and individual work comfortably and quickly.

Brightness and the addition of elements of nature

Integrating decorative pieces that promote well-being and team performance in the office is key. In this sense, the trend of integrating elements of nature such as plants, which can increase work quality and reduce stress, has grown.

Similarly, good lighting will be essential to avoid the well-known visual fatigue, improve productivity, and even increase job satisfaction.

“In this regard, LED lamps offer a suitable solution, as they have a longer life span than traditional lamps, and also dissipate heat, avoiding temperature overload,” concludes the President of Schmidt Groupe.
