Kategora Starts Construction of ‘Urban’ in Alicante, Opening in 2027

A new hotel complex is currently under construction on the renowned Doctor Gadea Avenue in Alicante, spearheaded by Kategora Real Estate. This ambitious undertaking involves an investment of 37 million euros and will spread across over 9,000 square meters, featuring 136 accommodation units. The grand opening of the complex is scheduled for 2027, marking the debut of the ‘Urban’ line in Valencia Community.

The design of the complex represents a collaborative effort between AIC EQUIP architectural studio and Made Studio for interior design. The project pays tribute to the architectural legacy of the previous building, preserving distinctive elements such as the iconic balcony railings and the historic hydraulic tiles that adorned the old homes. This approach aims to immerse guests in Alicante’s rich cultural history upon their arrival.

The new building is envisioned as a space that balances urban life with tranquility. The ground floor will offer common areas including a restaurant and a café, all surrounded by greenery and functional furniture. Additionally, it will feature a 200-square-meter outdoor garden and a double-height lounge that visually connects the different floors of the complex. The studios and one-bedroom apartments on the upper levels will provide a total accommodation capacity of 300 places.

The project demonstrates its connection with the Mediterranean environment through various details, such as a large mosaic carpet in the lobby that recalls the famous Explanada de Alicante promenade. Moreover, the complex’s terraces will enable guests to enjoy the region’s pleasant climate.

Kategora Real Estate, a Basque company founded in 2006, is known for its expertise in developing sustainable and appealing real estate projects, both in urban and coastal areas. Its hotel brand Kora Living will manage the new complex, characterized by a hospitality concept that adapts to current demands, offering stays ranging from short to long-term. This development is poised as a bridge between tradition and modernity, merging the historical identity of the neighborhood with a contemporary approach to accommodation.
