KAYAK Presents WTF: Travel Trends Report for 2030

KAYAK has recently released its report titled “What The Future” (WTF), which anticipates significant changes in the travel sector by the year 2030. This study, conducted in collaboration with The Future Laboratory, incorporates the opinions of over 9,100 respondents worldwide and analyzes the emerging trends that are transforming tourism.

One of the main projections of the report is the growth of multi-destination travel. 66% of survey participants state that traveling is one of their top priorities. This phenomenon will occur in a context where visa regulations will begin to be more flexible, thus facilitating travelers’ movement between different countries in a single day.

Wellness during travel, known as “Vitamin V,” will also become increasingly important. Travelers will show a growing preference for destinations that offer relaxation facilities such as pools and spas, as well as experiences focused on personal well-being and longevity.

The use of artificial intelligence for travel organization is also emerging as another key innovation. It is expected that by 2030, virtual assistants will be able to personalize itineraries and travel solutions according to users’ preferences, allowing for easier and less stressful planning.

Social media continues to play a fundamental role in inspiring and booking travel. Currently, 36% of respondents are inspired by these platforms, and this figure is expected to increase in the coming years. KAYAK anticipates that social media will evolve into direct purchase channels, simplifying transactions for travelers.

The report also highlights the growth of spiritual travel, with more people seeking experiences that allow them to explore their inner selves and heal through activities such as retreats and genealogical searches.

Finally, loyalty programs will also adapt to a constantly evolving market. 29% of travelers demand personalized rewards, indicating a growing need for flexibility and a more agile response to price fluctuations in the travel industry.

This analysis provides a clear view of how tourism is expected to evolve in the next decade, with a focus on personalization, wellness, and innovative use of technology to enrich the traveler’s experience.
