KELIAS’s conference in Pamplona on Traffic Accident Prevention

The College of Civil Engineers of Roads, Canals and Ports of Navarra, in collaboration with the company KELIAS, recently held a technical session in Pamplona focused on improving road safety in the region. The event brought together over 60 road engineering specialists, who exchanged ideas on the latest technologies and strategies aimed at reducing accidents on the roads.

During the session, significant innovations were presented in real-time traffic management, as well as interconnected systems that allow for effective monitoring of road conditions and a rapid response to emergencies, such as snowstorms or floods. A highlighted topic was the presentation of connected and autonomous solutions designed to reduce risks associated with wildlife, traffic congestion, and other factors that can increase accidents.

Participants also discussed specific initiatives to reduce accidents in critical areas, such as dangerous intersections, construction zones, pedestrian crossings, and cycling routes. Measures focused on speed control and preventing road departures were shared. The session concluded with a discussion where attendees had the opportunity to directly engage with the speakers on the topics discussed.

According to the annual report on accidents and road safety from the Government of Navarra, covering the period from 2019 to 2023, the region stands out for relatively low accident numbers, with an average of 244 incidents, ranking it 38th out of 52 territories in terms of accident rates. A more detailed analysis reveals that two-thirds of accidents are due to collisions and animal strikes, while 24% are road departures.

With over 60 years of experience in manufacturing road signs and equipment, KELIAS has positioned itself as a leader in improving the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure. The company operates within a context of sustainable development and digital transformation, collaborating with various entities to optimize signage and traffic flows, with the strong goal of reducing accidents and enhancing the mobility experience for all road users.
