Laguardia, a picturesque town in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, is preparing to host a benevolent event titled “Lazos con Turkana” this Saturday, organized by the NGO Amor Sin Barreras. The main goal of this event is to raise funds to support the education and nutrition of children in Kenya, specifically at Pole Pole School, a vital educational and nutritional center located in the impoverished region of Turkana.

From 10:00 AM until late into the night, the town will transform into a vibrant space of coexistence, culture, and social commitment. The day will include a varied program featuring a solidarity walk that will culminate in a lunch, a collaborative mural, traditional games, and a solidarity library. Additionally, there will be a market for Kenyan crafts open from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, where attendees can purchase handmade products.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to taste local products, such as mushrooms, and connect live with Turkana, allowing them to learn more about the realities faced by its inhabitants through technology. Furthermore, there will be a photographic exhibition titled “Turkana, the Origin,” showcasing the work of photographer Rober Astorgano, along with live music featuring Eduardo Llorente, the Musical Group of Laguardia, and the African group Won Bere Percussion. The day will culminate in a grand concert in the Plaza Mayor.

To participate in some of the day’s activities, a donation of between 3 and 5 euros is requested, which can be paid at the Tourism Office of Laguardia. The organization has emphasized that it will be a “special day, full of life, culture, commitment, and community,” highlighting the importance of ensuring education and dignity for children in Turkana. Amor Sin Barreras extends an invitation to everyone to join this noble cause and enjoy an event that promises to be a showcase of solidarity.
