On July 25, 2024, Hospital del Mar has been recognized by the Catalan Association of Midwives with a prestigious award for its innovative project in the field of contraception. This award is part of the II Challenge for the Best Innovative Contraception Project, an initiative that seeks to promote creativity and improvement in reproductive health services.

The midwives of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service of the hospital, María Mamblona, Georgina Picas, and resident Nerea Garicano, have been responsible for this outstanding project titled “Contraception in the immediate postpartum for women in vulnerable situations.” The proposal has been valued for its relevance and potential to improve the health of women in unfavorable circumstances.

In addition to the recognition, the award includes registration, transportation, and accommodation to participate in the next edition of the national congress to be held in Lleida, allowing the awardees to share their findings with a wider audience and continue promoting the importance of quality obstetric care.

This recognition highlights Hospital del Mar’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in women’s care, especially those facing additional challenges in their reproductive health.
