Lefebvre and Global LegalTech Hub: Exploring the Future of Legal Digitization.

The headquarters of Lefebvre in Madrid was the scene yesterday of an important meeting in the field of legal technology, organized in collaboration with Global LegalTech Hub (GLTH). The event, titled ‘Key challenges and solutions in legal technology’, brought together distinguished professionals in the sector, such as lawyers, entrepreneurs, and academics, to explore the impact of innovation in the legal profession and the advances in digitalization that are transforming this field. The session, which could also be followed online, was moderated by María de la O Martínez, Director of Strategy and Innovation at Lefebvre and Vice President of Innovation and Projects at GLTH.

Among the notable participants were María Pedrosa Martínez, Head of NewLaw & Digital at Repsol; David Hurtado, Innovation Manager at Microsoft Spain; Lucía Carrau, Innovation Director at RSM; Macarena Plaza, Head of Corporate Development and Legal Innovation at IE Law School; and Óscar Villanueva Cañizares, CEO and co-founder of Nymiz. All of them took part in a roundtable discussion where the need for companies to adopt Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) across their business models was highlighted. “Legal service has always been more resistant to change, but we are experiencing a revolution and we must seize this opportunity,” said María de la O Martínez, who also emphasized the importance of keeping the human being at the center of this technological transformation.

David Hurtado, on the other hand, shared his optimistic view on the future of generative AI, stating that “the detractor of AI is someone who hasn’t tried it.” According to him, this technology “does not respond to data or algorithms, but to normal conversations, like the ones you would have with a person.”

The event also presented innovative solutions that are already disrupting legal practice, including GenIA-L, the first generative AI assistant developed by Lefebvre. This assistant uses Mementos and other sources from the company to provide legal certainty to professionals, facilitating research, analysis, synthesis, summary, and comparison of information, as well as the creation of documents according to the user’s guidelines. In this way, Lefebvre reaffirms its leadership in Europe in the implementation of AI in legal information search, establishing itself as a cornerstone in sector innovation.

María Pedrosa Martínez shared her experience in integrating technological processes in large corporations, stating that “it is time to train hybrid lawyers who not only possess technical skills, but also have a deep knowledge in legaltech and digital law.” At Repsol, they have designed a three-year training plan for all the company’s lawyers.

With these initiatives, Global LegalTech Hub and Lefebvre renew their commitment to the digital transformation of the legal sector and the dissemination of knowledge on emerging trends in LegalTech. Lefebvre, a leader in Spain in the provision of legal software and content, continues its advancement towards the forefront of innovation, establishing itself as a reference in the application of AI in services to legal professionals.
