LORRA, an entity dedicated to providing agricultural and livestock services, has taken a significant step towards sustainability by installing a photovoltaic system on the roof of its offices. This project not only promotes solar self-consumption in its own operations, but also seeks to incentivize the energy transition in the agricultural sector of Bizkaia. To carry out this installation, LORRA has collaborated with ASG Energy Consulting, renowned for its specialization in energy efficiency solutions.
The results obtained with the new photovoltaic system are remarkable. In 2024, LORRA achieved a level of energy self-sufficiency of 38.42%, in addition to exporting 61.40% of the energy generated to the electrical grid. This progress has allowed the cooperative to significantly reduce its energy bill, surpassing the performance of 66% of the solar plants operating in the country. From an environmental perspective, the entity has managed to avoid the emission of 20.42 tons of CO₂, equivalent to planting 28 trees, and has achieved a saving equivalent to 17.9 tons of coal, thus contributing to the fight against climate change.
In order for the entire team to perceive the benefits of this initiative, LORRA has placed an informational panel in its offices, detailing the positive impact generated by the photovoltaic installation.
In addition to its focus on internal sustainability, LORRA aims to promote efficient energy solutions among other agricultural and livestock operations in Bizkaia. The collaboration with ASG Energy Consulting will allow offering a comprehensive service that includes everything from the design and installation of energy systems to the management of permits, subsidies, and maintenance. The solutions being considered include photovoltaic solar energy, mini wind power, biomass, aerothermal, geothermal, home automation, and charging stations.
This shift towards renewable energies not only represents a reduction in energy costs for operations, but also improves their environmental impact by reducing the carbon footprint. Becoming a sustainable rural establishment is not only a responsibility towards the environment, but also an added value that is increasingly appreciated in the market.
The implementation of these solutions will be carried out through a detailed analysis of each interested operation, aiming to identify areas of opportunity and design customized projects that meet the specific needs of each entity. In this way, LORRA not only reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, but also invites other organizations to join in this path towards a cleaner and more efficient future.
