MarSenses: Driving Sustainability and Tourism Responsibility in Mallorca

Majorca reaffirms itself as a cutting-edge tourist destination with the debut of the MarSenses Natura Olea Hotel, an establishment that embodies a strong commitment to sustainability and the promotion of local cuisine. Since its opening, the hotel has aimed to establish a tourism model that not only respects the environment but also fosters social inclusion.

One of the main attractions of the MarSenses Natura Olea is its organic garden, which supplies a significant portion of the dishes offered on its menu. Visitors can easily identify the local ingredients thanks to a special label, inviting them to enjoy an experience that connects food with the land. The garden, rich in diverse products ranging from eggplants to exotic fruits like passion fruit, becomes a sensory space that highlights the importance of local sourcing.

The hotel is also committed to reforestation efforts on the island through the Coanegra Verd project, which aims to plant over 2,000 native trees across an area of 3.6 hectares. This initiative seeks not only to combat climate change but also underscores the establishment’s interest in reducing its carbon footprint and promoting a healthy environment for both its employees and visitors. Among the innovations implemented is ozone cleaning, which minimizes the use of chemical products and contributes to a safer environment.

The well-being of employees is another priority for the MarSenses chain. They have established a specialized department that addresses staff needs, fostering a healthy work environment. Measures adopted include reducing heavy furniture in rooms and shortening work hours, which has led to improved satisfaction and productivity among the team.

Additionally, the MarSenses Natura Olea engages in meaningful collaborations with the GREC association, which works with vulnerable individuals. This partnership allows the use of hotel facilities to offer training in gastronomy, facilitating social and employment opportunities for those who have participated in their programs.

Projects like the MarSenses Natura Olea stand out in such a unique setting as Majorca, not only enriching the island’s tourist offerings but also building a more responsible, supportive, and environmentally conscious model of tourism.
