In the vibrant and competitive world of haute cuisine, few events manage to capture the essence of culinary art like Burger Combat, which will take place on April 7th during the opening of the prestigious Salón Gourmets in Madrid. Organized by the Swedish bread company Lantmännen Unibake, this gastronomic show will bring together six of the best burger chefs in Spain, who will face off in an unprecedented competition.
For the fifth consecutive year, Lantmännen Unibake will transform the stoves into a true ring, where talent, precision, and passion for gourmet burgers will merge in a symphony of flavors. Each chef will have only 20 minutes to seduce the palate of the jury with creations that defy convention. Registration for the competition will close on March 12th, when the competitors who will compete for the title of Best Gourmet Burger Chef in Spain will be known.
This year, Burger Combat introduces an unexpected twist: the bread will be the true star of the event. Unlike previous editions, participants will not know the type of bread they must use until the crucial moment of the competition. Three exclusive types of Lantmännen Unibake bread will be put to the test: the Pretzel with seeds, the innovative Brioche style, and a third bread that will remain a secret. This unpredictability will heighten the tension of the competition, placing bread in a decisive role in the chefs’ creations.
In addition to its focus on competition, Lantmännen Unibake promotes a gastronomic philosophy centered on sustainability. With over 150 years of experience and the support of a cooperative of 18,000 Swedish farmers, the company follows the principle “From Farm to Table”, seeking to connect with the most demanding consumers. Their commitment to health is reflected in the reduction of salt and calories in their products, aligning with the growing demand for more balanced options in the gourmet realm.
This year’s jury will be composed of renowned chefs, including Carlos Maldonado, winner of “MasterChef 3” and holder of a Michelin star, and Fran Rodríguez, founder of Monio Group. Martín Fernández, Iñigo Urrechu, and Sergio Fernández will also be there, bringing their vast experience to the event. The competition has grown exponentially and the decisions of the jury have become more complex, highlighting the quality of the gastronomic proposals.
The memory of the previous edition, where Martín Fernández triumphed with his creation “A Fuxidía”, a tribute to Galician cuisine, remains fresh. With the clock ticking towards April 7th, intrigue grows about who will manage to capture the essence of their land and their technique in the burger of the future.
The recognition for the winner goes beyond the trophy; the chef who becomes “FACE OF BURGER COMBAT 2025” will gain visibility on Lantmännen Unibake’s official channels and a place as a judge in the next edition, promising to open new doors in their career.
As the gastronomic world awaits this epic duel, the question lingers in the air: Who will elevate a burger to the status of a masterpiece? The answer will be revealed in the next edition of Burger Combat.
