Medical Innovations at Hospital del Mar

August 1, 2024 – The Hospital del Mar continues its tradition of linking with Olympism by being present at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This year, Dr. Paula Hoz San Bartolomé, a resident physician in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, joins the Spanish delegation in the discipline of clay pigeon shooting, where she will provide support to the team’s athletes.

Dr. Hoz will be part of a multidisciplinary team that will provide medical care and assistance to the athletes during the competition days, which will take place from August 1 to 3 in Chateauroux, a town in the Loire Valley. This participation highlights the Hospital del Mar’s continued commitment to elite sports, a bond that was forged during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, when the center became the Olympic hospital.

In addition to Dr. Hoz’s participation, the Hospital del Mar will also be represented by three professionals from the Anti-Doping Laboratory of Catalonia, belonging to the center’s Research Institute. These specialists have traveled to Paris to collaborate with the Olympic Laboratory, contributing to the integrity and transparency of the competition in these games.

The presence of the Hospital del Mar at the Paris Olympics reaffirms its commitment to the health and well-being of athletes, continuing a tradition that has linked the institution with major international sports events.
