Natur System has successfully completed the restoration of the historic Marquis of Alfarràs Palace, located in Barcelona’s emblematic Horta Labyrinth. This architectural complex, considered one of the most representative of the city, was in significant disrepair, urgently requiring rehabilitation to ensure its preservation and to enhance its value for future uses.
The restoration work began with structural consolidation to eliminate the risk of the building collapsing. This was followed by a meticulous refurbishment of the facades, strengthening the coating and improving waterproofing. Additionally, essential facilities such as the electrical system, drainage, and lightning rods were renewed, ensuring proper maintenance for the future.
Also known as Desvalls Palace or Can Llupià, the Marquis of Alfarràs Palace is listed as a cultural asset of national interest. This architectural gem includes the Torre Sobirana, an auxiliary structure from the 11th century, surrounded by 12th-century expansions. It was between 1791 and 1794 that Joan Antoni Desvalls i d’Ardena, Marquis of Llupià and Poal, transformed the old tower and developed the iconic gardens that enhance the Horta Labyrinth, known for their neoclassical design.
The restoration led by Natur System has allowed the palace to regain its original splendor, preparing it for new uses that will highlight its historical, architectural, and cultural importance. At all times, the company has prioritized respecting the existing heritage, ensuring that the renovations are not only aesthetically harmonious but also structurally durable.
This project not only ensures the preservation of a city’s architectural treasure but also reiterates Natur System’s commitment to sustainable rehabilitation and respect for historical heritage. Thanks to this intervention, the Marquis of Alfarràs Palace and its gardens will continue to be an attraction for citizens and tourists, offering an unparalleled experience that combines history, culture, and nature in a unique setting.
