New Footprints: Announcement of the Second Edition of the Tour Guide Course on San Juan de la Cruz

Here’s the translation into American English:

The Network of Teresian Cities in Spain, known as the Footprints of Teresa, has announced the second edition of its training course for tour guides, focused on the figure of Saint John of the Cross. This project arises following the recent General Assembly held in Pastrana, Guadalajara, and aims to enhance the cultural and tourist dissemination of the Sanjuanista legacy. The course will begin on November 10, 2025, and will extend until early 2026, in collaboration with CITeS – University of Mysticism in Ávila.

During the Assembly, held at the emblematic Ducal Palace of Pastrana, representatives from the fourteen cities that are part of this network presented an activity report from the past year. Among the highlighted initiatives were the first Footprints of Teresa Awards, an itinerant exhibition of informative totems, and the “Paths of the Soul” campaign, as part of INTUR. Significant anniversaries were also celebrated, such as the 450th anniversary of the Teresian foundation of Beas de Segura and the 510th anniversary of Saint Teresa’s birth in Ávila.

The course will offer online classes, complementary materials, and a final in-person meeting in Ávila, where participants will learn to interpret and convey the legacy of Saint John of the Cross from both a tourist and cultural perspective. The program will include the participation of specialists in heritage and cultural tourism.

Among the upcoming activities, the presentation on October 21 in Seville of the reissue of the easy-read book “This Was Teresa” and the presentation in Salamanca of the travel book “In the Footsteps of Teresa” stand out. Additionally, the Network will be present at the INTUR tourism fair and will expand its program with exhibitions of totems and informative panels in new cities.

The calendar for 2026 will include the cultural performance “The Paths of the Soul,” which will combine music and literature around Teresian spirituality, as well as the celebration of Sanjuanista anniversaries and the 450th anniversary of the foundation of Caravaca de la Cruz. The Assembly reaffirms the commitment of the Footprints of Teresa Network to collaborate among cities and promote the cultural and spiritual heritage of its legacy, seeking inspiration and development for the towns that preserve it.
