New Text Extraction Feature in Snipping Tool for Windows Insiders

Microsoft has started rolling out a major update for the Snipping Tool tool, specifically aimed at Windows Insiders users in the Canary and Dev channels of Windows 11. The new version, 11.2503.27.0, introduces a text extractor feature aimed at making it easier to copy text content to the clipboard without the need to take a screenshot.

Snipping Tool users can now access this functionality by pressing the Win + Shift + S key combination or by directly opening the program and selecting the new “Text extractor” button in the toolbar. This feature allows users to select an area of the screen to scan for text. Once the selection is made, they have the option to manually copy the text or, more conveniently, use the “Copy all text” button to quickly transfer the content to the clipboard.

Additionally, users have a drop-down menu called “More options”, where they can choose to remove line breaks from the copied text or simplify the process even further with the “Copy text automatically” option. This last function allows Snipping Tool to close by itself once the text has been copied, improving efficiency in the workflow.

Microsoft has encouraged users to share their feedback on this new feature through the Feedback Hub. Community collaboration is considered a valuable resource by the company, which is interested in receiving suggestions to improve the user experience.

With this update, Snipping Tool positions itself as an even more effective tool for those who need to capture and manage textual information quickly and easily.
