Car racing pilot Nunzio Coffaro, known for his outstanding career in the rally world, has announced his comeback to competitions in the upcoming Rally Morocco. After a break in his professional career, Coffaro resumes his passion for rally with more experience and enthusiasm than ever.
Nunzio Coffaro, chosen as Best Cross Country Rally Driver in the T1.1 FIA category in 2013, has accumulated vast experience both nationally and internationally. He has participated in renowned automotive events such as Off-Road, Outback Challenge, and Cliffhanger Challenge in Australia, as well as competing in the National Fun Race Championship and AWA 4X4.
In this new stage, Coffaro is part of Team number 20 of the 36 registered in the T4 category of SSV, with the plate number 421 in the general classification. “Begins a new adventure,” expresses Coffaro with enthusiasm.
Coffaro will participate for the third time in the FIA Cross Country Rally World, having previously competed in 2013 and 2016. “The FIA cross country rally is my life. I have been competing in these off-road events for more than two decades, perfecting my skills to reach the highest level. It’s the perfect combination of adrenaline, strategy, and passion that drives me forward,” says Nunzio Coffaro, prior to his participation in the Rally Morocco.
For this new participation, Coffaro has been studying navigation with digital Roadbooks and practicing the Italian lexicon and language. “We have been practicing with Roadbooks made by ourselves to maximize Pilot-Navigator communication and understanding,” he explains.
Coffaro’s team, Team Azimut, now also registered in Italy through ACI Sport, will have experienced Italian driver Andrea Schiumarini at the wheel. They will be assisted by the Italian teams R-Team and the Spanish TH-Truck team. “We feel at home with these familiar teams,” adds Coffaro.
Coffaro highlights that his main priority in the Rally Morocco will be to reach the finish line, given the competitiveness and challenges of the terrain. “Risk management and physical endurance will be decisive for our position in the standings,” he affirms.
Looking towards Dakar 2025, Coffaro seeks to continue growing in this sport and achieve the status of “Dakar Lord” by completing his 10 Dakar medals. “The Dakar and the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup are my goals,” Coffaro concludes.
Just eight days away from the start of the 25th edition of the Rallye du Maroc, which will take place from October 4 to 11 between Marrakech and the Eastern region, the list of entries promises a spectacular event. With 271 vehicles, including 126 FIA and 136 FIM, participants will cover 2,468 kilometers, of which 1,512 will be special. The new Ford Raptor and Dacia Sandrider, which will debut in competition, stand out. Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the rally will be the final test of the W2RC calendar, with 34 FIA vehicles and 28 FIM competing for the 2024 world title.
