The Barcelona Advanced Neuroscience Institute (INAB) was officially inaugurated yesterday at an event held at the Norrsken Barcelona space, where prominent experts in neuroscience, consciousness, and innovation gathered. This new research center is positioned as a benchmark in the study of the human mind, under the motto “The neuroscience of the possible and the impossible.”
During the ceremony, Dr. David del Rosario, director and co-founder of INAB, and Dr. Xavi Ginesta, co-founder and president of the Fundació Humanitas, shared their vision for the institute. Del Rosario pointed out that INAB aims to transcend the traditional limits of neuroscience to promote a more conscious, compassionate, and collaborative society. Ginesta, on the other hand, emphasized the need to abandon obsolete beliefs to facilitate a deeper understanding of human nature.
The event also served to present the future research lines of INAB, which will range from the genesis of thought and emotions to the impact of silence and noise on cellular dynamics. One of the highlighted projects is the study of so-called “cognitive vision,” where research is conducted on how a temporary visual deficit in children, using light-blocking masks, can offer insights for the treatment of visual disorders in childhood.
The institute will feature advanced technology, including high-density electroencephalograms (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), and a well-being environment has been designed to promote both research and personal development of researchers. This approach is aimed at creating a space that stimulates curiosity and delves into the study of the human mind.
With this inauguration, it is expected that INAB will not only establish itself as a leader in neuroscience but also significantly contribute to the understanding and improvement of people’s everyday lives through the analysis of the mind and consciousness.
