Opening of the Training Room of Schneider Electric at the Salesian College Atocha in Madrid

Schneider Electric recently inaugurated a training classroom at the Salesianos Atocha School in Madrid as part of its Schneider NextGen program. This project aims to train vocational students to meet the growing demands of the energy sector, both now and in the future. In this new educational space, the EcoXpert for Students course will be taught, designed to certify students as experts in building management systems, a profile that is highly sought after in today’s job market.

The inauguration event brought together representatives from the school, Schneider Electric collaborators, and students from the Automation and Robotics, as well as Telecommunications, training programs. The day began with a tour of the school’s facilities and a photo session, followed by speeches from key figures such as Óscar Vázquez, director of Salesianos Atocha School; Jesús Alonso Barriuso, teacher of the Higher Degree cycle in Automation and Industrial Robotics; and Antonio Paz, Product Manager at Schneider Electric. At the end, an informal meeting was held to discuss the positive impact of this initiative on student education.

This training classroom stems from an agreement signed in October 2024 between Schneider Electric and the school. Students will have the opportunity to obtain the EcoXpert Jr certification, accrediting them as specialists in building management systems and facilitating their entry into Schneider’s EcoXpert network. The EcoXpert for Students course will be offered as an elective subject in the higher cycles of Automation and Industrial Robotics and Telecommunications, spanning 60 hours divided into three modules: Air Conditioning Facilities, Control and Automation, and Certification in the EcoStruxure Building Operation platform. Additionally, Schneider Electric has provided the classroom with didactic material valued at 45,000 euros and has certified the teachers responsible for delivering the course, ensuring high-quality education.

The collaboration between Schneider Electric and Salesianos Atocha School also addresses the growing shortage of technical profiles in the energy sector. Through this partnership, Schneider Electric can access young talent who already possess the knowledge and skills needed for the market, reducing the learning curve when they enter a company. Ainoa Irurre, Vice President of Talent Acquisition at Schneider Electric in Europe, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that “specialized training is essential to increase students’ employability and ensure that our partners have access to the talent they need.”

Óscar Vázquez, the school’s director, highlighted the significance of the agreement, noting that “offering our students an important specialization for their employability is a priority.” This initiative will allow students at Salesianos Atocha School to access quality education that translates into concrete opportunities for their professional future.
