The Parla City Council has taken an important step in preventing underage alcohol consumption by joining the ‘Not One Drop for Minors’ Network. Led by Spirits Spain, this initiative aims to reduce access to and consumption of alcoholic beverages among young people, and promote responsible consumption among other at-risk groups such as drivers and pregnant women.
The agreement was signed by Mayor Ramón Jurado Rodríguez and Bosco Torremocha, director of Spirits Spain. The collaboration, which will last four years, includes various preventive actions in the municipality. Educational activities will be carried out targeting minors and their families to inform them about the dangers of early alcohol consumption. Rocío Ramos-Paúl, known for her participation in the program Supernanny, will contribute with workshops and practical guides to help parents address this issue.
In parallel, responsibility in alcohol sales will be promoted through the campaign “I do not sell alcohol to minors,” involving local hospitality. This measure aligns with Spirits Spain’s goal of promoting moderate and responsible consumption among adults, thereby protecting minors.
Regarding road safety, the ‘Noc-Turns’ program, celebrating its 20th anniversary, will be implemented to promote the figure of the Alternative Driver and encourage zero alcohol levels behind the wheel. It will have the support of the Local Police, who will reward responsible young drivers with mobility vouchers.
Currently, the ‘Not One Drop for Minors’ Network has the support of more than 300 municipalities and many public figures who altruistically support the cause. This support aims to create a safer environment for younger generations, as highlighted by Mayor Ramón Jurado, who emphasized the importance of educating and protecting the young citizens of Parla.
Bosco Torremocha confirmed the spirits industry’s commitment to prevention and the creation of a culture of responsible consumption, emphasizing that these actions are integral to the values his organization has promoted from the beginning.
Parla’s joining of this network reflects a joint effort to create a collective consciousness and make significant changes in social behavior regarding alcohol consumption. The strong commitment between the city council, Spirits Spain, and the community is to create a healthier and safer future for all its citizens.
