Picktan Capital, the renowned wealth management firm based in London, has made a significant announcement: its Multi-Asset Defensive Growth Fund has achieved an exceptional return of 12.27% in the first quarter of 2025, thus achieving the best quarterly performance since its launch in 2018. This remarkable performance comes in a context of uncertainty in global markets, highlighting the effectiveness of the company’s investment strategy.
With over 9,000 clients and more than $7 billion in assets under management, Picktan Capital has established itself as a leader in offering personalized investment solutions. Since its inception, its defensive fund has provided capital appreciation along with protection during periods of high volatility. Throughout its track record, this fund has recorded an average annual return of 18.27%, significantly outperforming traditional benchmark indices.
The start of 2025 also reflects the fund’s diversified allocation model, which includes a wide range of assets, including global stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, and other alternative asset classes. This record performance comes in a complex macroeconomic and geopolitical environment, characterized by growing tensions between the United States and Europe, the imposition of new tariffs, and an increase in global trade fragmentation. This situation has prompted many investors to adopt more defensive and diversified strategies.
In light of strong demand and significant inflows, Picktan Capital decided to limit its fund in June 2024 to $1 billion in assets under management, closing it to new investors. However, the asset manager is considering the possibility of reopening the fund in the second half of 2025, in response to the increasing interest in defensive and actively managed strategies in the European market.
Richard Hart, global director of trading at Picktan Capital, emphasized the importance of the fund’s performance in a quarter full of macroeconomic challenges. Hart highlighted that their multi-asset approach is based on flexibility and disciplined risk management, and that the record return validates the skill of their team in the complexity of the current environment.
Although the fund remains closed at this time, it is anticipated that Picktan Capital’s investment committee will provide a review in mid-year, in June 2025, which will include projections on a possible reopening and updated outlook for the second half. Founded in London, Picktan Capital specializes in offering personalized solutions in investment management, financial planning, and strategic advice for high net worth individuals, family offices, and institutions.
