Prefabricated concrete construction projects increase by 15% through October 2024, according to Andece.

The National Association of the Concrete Prefabrication Industry (ANDECE) has reported a significant increase in the usage of precast concrete materials in construction projects in Spain during the first ten months of 2024. According to the data provided by the organization, there has been a 15% increase in the number of projects adopting these materials compared to the same period last year, solidifying a positive trend that has been strengthening in the second half of the year.

However, the growth in the application of prefabricated materials has not been uniform across the entire country. Some autonomous communities, such as Extremadura, Aragón, and Castilla La Mancha, have seen a decrease in the consumption of these materials in the first half of 2024. Similarly, the Valencian Community has also recorded a drop compared to the previous period. On the other hand, Cantabria emerges as a notable example with a significant increase in its consumption during the semester, revealing a high demand in the region.

On the occasion of ANDECE’s 60th anniversary, the association has successfully conducted the “DESIGN AND BUILD WITH PRECAST CONCRETE” sessions. These meetings, focused on promoting innovations in the sector, will conclude with a final event scheduled for November 26, 2024, at the ANDECE headquarters. During this meeting, several flagship projects that stand out for their innovation and versatile application of precast will be presented. Among these are vehicle containment systems, the construction of a slab track for high-speed rail in Galicia, the viaduct over the Abión river, the implementation of voussoirs for the Barcelona metro, and the expansion of the Anoeta stadium.

ANDECE represents the most dynamic sector of concrete prefabrication in Spain, with its affiliates covering more than 70% of the sector’s business volume. These companies are at the forefront of industrialization in construction, advancing through the constant adaptation of technologies and the integration of state-of-the-art machinery.
