Windows 11 users participating in the Windows Insider program now have access to a new update of the Beta version, known as Build 26120.3671. This release, part of Windows 11 version 24H2, includes various features and improvements aimed at optimizing the user experience.
One of the most prominent new features is the introduction of icon scaling in the taskbar. This function will allow application icons to automatically shrink in size when the taskbar reaches its maximum capacity, making it easier to access more applications without the need to navigate through secondary menus. Users will have the option to customize this function, choosing between three settings: activating scaling only when the bar is full, maintaining a constant icon size for personal preference, or selecting a small size permanently.
Additionally, the file sharing experience has been simplified with the implementation of a tool called “drag tray”. This utility allows users to drag files from File Explorer or the desktop, displaying an area at the top of the screen where the file can be dropped into one of the presented applications or access an additional menu for sharing.
Another significant functionality added is the Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) remediation package. This tool will allow users to test quick recovery on their devices, promising to simplify system restoration for devices experiencing failures.
The update also includes considerable improvements in the Windows search experience, optimizing the performance of semantic search and compatibility with external graphics cards connected through Thunderbolt.
However, it is important for users to be aware of some known issues affecting this update, such as malfunctioning certain features for non-administrator users and the unavailability of Windows Sandbox in this version.
With these innovations, Microsoft aims to continue enhancing the interface and functionality of Windows 11 while gathering feedback from users to make adjustments in future versions. Users are encouraged to share their opinions and experiences through the Feedback Hub, contributing to the constant development of the operating system.
