Promoting the Furniture Industry in Madrid: 1st Edition of Furniture Week

The Madrid Furniture Week will be held from February 4-7 as part of Intergift, one of the most important decoration and interior design fairs. This event will feature the participation of associated stores offering special promotions, allowing citizens to access high-quality and design products, strengthening the connection between specialized commerce and the consumer.

The Ministry of Economy, Treasury, and Employment of the Community of Madrid has hosted the signing of a collaboration agreement between this entity, the Association of Habitat Commerce Entrepreneurs of the Community of Madrid (Habitat Madrid), IFEMA MADRID, and the City Council of Arganda del Rey. This agreement aims to coordinate the furniture industry in the region and marks the beginning of Furniture Week, a strategy aimed at positioning the sector as an economic, cultural, and social engine.

During the signing ceremony, María del Carmen Tejera Jimeno, Deputy Minister of Economy and Employment, highlighted the importance of this agreement, emphasizing that the sector employs 15,000 people and generates a turnover of 1.2 billion euros, which is equivalent to 1.5% of the regional GDP. “This protocol speaks not only of intentions but of actions. Madrid is the economic engine of Spain, and this Furniture Week will boost the benefit of the habitat commercial sector of the Community,” Tejera stated.

Furniture Week aims to give visibility to a sector crucial for the regional economy. This initiative seeks to highlight the industry’s ability to generate employment, wealth, and improve the quality of life of citizens. Collaboration with IFEMA MADRID allows Furniture Week to be integrated into Intergift, enriching the sector’s visibility and placing it in a prominent professional environment.

Carlos Daniel Martínez Rodríguez, Executive Vice President of IFEMA, commented that fairs should serve as levers for economic development, and collaboration with this initiative could make Madrid a reference in the furniture industry in Europe.

This event will not only be a meeting point for professionals and specialized commerce but will also host activities aimed at the final consumer, such as furniture trend presentations, conferences, and round tables. Associated stores will also offer special promotions to bring quality products closer to the population.

The Mayor of Arganda del Rey, Alberto Escribano García, highlighted the significance of this initiative for the local industry and its commitment to the town’s history in this area. Jesús Clemente, President of Habitat Madrid, emphasized the importance of this week in highlighting the value of Madrid’s furniture, urging consumers to trust specialized commerce and professional advice.

Under the slogan “Touch Wood,” the campaign promotes a message of trust and authenticity, connecting tradition with the evolution towards sustainability and contemporary design. With this first edition, the Community of Madrid positions itself to consolidate an event that could become a national reference, contributing to the dynamism of commerce and the habitat industry in the region.
