Recommendations from GSD for an Educational and Fun Summer

GSD Education has presented a series of recommendations for families to take advantage of summer not just as a time for rest, but also as an opportunity to continue learning. With the support of its educational team, GSD seeks to foster curiosity and consolidate the knowledge acquired during the school year in a playful way that is tailored to each educational stage.

Laura Moreno, the primary education coordinator, emphasizes that learning is a continuous process that does not stop with the school calendar. Therefore, the educational cooperative has designed an approach where play, leisure, and education intertwine. One of the most important aspects of these recommendations is the inclusion of daily reading. Enjoying books, comics, or articles not only improves reading comprehension but also stimulates the imagination. Moreno highlights the importance of children choosing their own reading material so that this activity becomes a true pleasure.

Another relevant point is the playful review of key concepts from the previous school year. Activities like mental math games or educational apps allow for continued learning in a fun and stress-free manner. According to Moreno, many everyday activities can be transformed into learning opportunities, such as doing math exercises while walking.

Summer also presents an excellent opportunity to explore new interests. GSD proposes various activities, such as robotics workshops and science camps, that enable young people to discover their talents. One example of these initiatives was the GSD Musical Theater Summer Camp, which attracted over 50 participants to the fascinating world of musical theater.

Additionally, fostering creative writing is considered a valuable tool. Keeping a journal or writing stories not only aids in the development of written expression but also promotes organized thinking. Staying physically active is equally essential; walks, sports, and outings not only support general well-being but also create a positive attitude toward learning. While it is advisable to limit the use of electronic devices, their integration in educational activities, such as learning to navigate using a smartphone’s GPS, can be useful.

GSD proposes a summer that goes beyond mere rest and aims to stimulate the mind. To achieve this, it has developed a set of key advice for families, which includes practical, educational, and fun activities adaptable to different ages. This collection of recommendations aims to make summer vacation an active, enriching, and above all, enjoyable time.
