The mayor of Pareja, leading a delegation from the municipal government, attended an emotional event shared with the current leaders of the Urbanization and with the residents, demonstrating the commitment of the City Council to Urbanization El Paraíso.
The El Paraíso Urbanization in Pareja is celebrating its traditional Summer Festival during this August long weekend. During these dates, practically all of the plots, around 500 in total, are occupied, and more than a thousand people, between regular and occasional residents, enjoy a few days of rest in the area.
The festival is organized by the board of directors of the entity and has the collaboration of the Pareja City Council. The center of the celebration has been the social club of the Urbanization, where the sports courts and the children’s play area are located, which this year has inaugurated a new swing acquired by the City Council.
The program has included numerous activities, mostly sports, taking advantage of the excellent facilities of El Paraíso. Between August 15, 16, and 17, tournaments have been held for up to five sports disciplines: paddle tennis, children’s soccer, penalty shootouts, adult soccer, and a crossbar tournament. All activities have had the security of being a cardio protected space, thanks to the installation of a public access defibrillator (DESA) with remote control, direct call to 112, and geolocation.
In addition, board games such as darts, mus, petanque, chinchón, and croquettes have been organized, as well as a nighttime bingo, a kahoot game, and inflatable water castles for the younger ones. Close to 400 people enjoyed a generous paella at midday, as part of the communal meal.
The central act of the Festival was the renewal of the Spanish flag, which presides over the main roundabout at the entrance of Urbanization El Paraíso. This mast was installed on the occasion of the 41st Anniversary of the Spanish Constitution on December 6, 2019. The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Pareja, Javier del Río; councilors Ricardo Fernández, María Tierraseca, and Inocente del Río; the new president of the entity, Milagros Cuenca; the previous president, Javier Casero; Porfirio Herrero, current president of the Pareja Retirees Association, and residents of the Urbanization.
At noon, the mayor raised a new Spanish flag while the national anthem played. The flag was presented by the young Pareja resident Álvaro Alonso Tierraseca. The mayor emphasized the importance of the national symbol, freedom, and democratic values.
During the event, the mayor reaffirmed the City Council’s commitment to the Urbanization. For over a decade, the municipal government has maintained constant contact with the residents, annually launching a line of aid to address the priorities of the neighbors. This year, the aid will be used for water supply.
The new president of the Urbanization thanked the support of the City Council, highlighting the willingness of the local government to collaborate on improvements. Residents of the urbanizations and neighborhoods of Pareja also benefit from a significant fiscal discount on urban real estate taxes, a measure implemented since the pandemic to encourage residency, resulting in an increase of new residents in Urbanization El Paraíso.
