Players will explore a castle full of curiosities in this free update to the game, which will be available on July 31, 2024. The Teamfight Tactics Macao Open, a LAN event, will take place from December 13 to 15, 2024.
Players will explore the Magosterio, a castle full of curiosities where endless magic meets limitless imagination, in Teamfight Tactics: Chaos and Cauldrons, the new update to Teamfight Tactics (TFT), the world’s most popular PC strategy game. Teamfight Tactics: Chaos and Cauldrons will be available on PC and mobile devices starting on July 31, 2024, and will be free for all players. During the TFT Tactician’s Crown final on July 14, Riot Games offered a first look at what’s to come with Chaos and Cauldrons, including mechanics, attributes, enhancements, and champions, including three new characters. Additionally, the company has announced the upcoming international TFT LAN event in Macao, China, from December 13 to 15, 2024.
You can take a look at the TFT Development video: Chaos and Cauldrons here.
Chaos and Cauldrons features popular champions from various Riot Games titles. Norra, the iconic yordle from Riot’s card and strategy game, Legends of Runeterra, will debut in TFT alongside her best friend, Yuumi. Briar and Smolder, the new champions from League of Legends, will also venture into the Convergence for the first time. Additionally, TFT has collaborated with Riot’s mobile game, League of Legends: Wild Rift, to develop the Chrono skin line, which was named “Astral” when it first appeared in Wild Rift.
Furthermore, in Chaos and Cauldrons, players can take their magical mastery to new heights with a new mechanic, charms, single-use spells that can be purchased. The set features over 100 charms, which will help prevent gameplay from stagnating and allow players to master all types of magic. Charms serve various purposes, such as granting power, improving economy, annoying opponents, enhancing attributes, and more.
Sam Judd, lead designer of the Chaos and Cauldrons set at Riot Games, comments: “Thanks to its extravagance, vibrant color palette, and cheerful champions, Chaos and Cauldrons captures the lively atmosphere of summer. We wanted to create a place where players could let their creativity flow and demonstrate their mastery of various types of sorcery with the help of those champions they adore. We can’t wait for the Magosterio to open its doors.”
Fans will also encounter familiar faces from previous TFT sets before Chaos and Cauldrons. The Fairy champion, Milio, who debuted in TFT during the rebirth of set 9.5, Towards the Horizon, returns by popular demand, as do the Dragon champions, Glutton and Shyvana, from the TFT set 7, Dragonlands.
The set will feature 27 attributes, 60 champions, and approximately 140 new enhancements, including some that will completely revamp the riskiest and most satisfying TFT strategies. Additionally, the Magosterio will welcome new strategists, such as Lumi (a new little legend), its variations, and new variations for Pom Pom. Chaos and Cauldrons will also introduce four new chibi champions: Miss Fortune chibi, Battle Bunny Miss Fortune chibi, Galactic Slayer Zed chibi, and Prestigious Café Cutie Gwen chibi. Players will also be able to enjoy the Hoppity Bunny Restaurant arena for the first time.
Peter Whalen, game director of Teamfight Tactics at Riot Games, shares: “Chaos and Cauldrons represents TFT’s commitment to experimenting with innovative themes and collaborations across different titles while preserving its incredible gameplay experience. We can’t wait for players to show us their magical skills and to surprise them along the way.”
In addition to game updates, Riot Games announced that it plans to hold the TFT Macao Open (TMO), its second international LAN event, from December 13 to 15, 2024. This open bracket tournament will have 512 slots, and players from around the world will compete for a share of the $300,000 prize pool and the title of TFT Macao Open champion.
