Route of Light: Donation of Glasses to 80 People in Vulnerable Situations by Optics of Cee

Here’s the translation to American English:

Eighty individuals in vulnerable situations in the town of Cee have improved their visual health thanks to the “See to Grow” project, promoted by the Cione Ruta de la Luz Foundation in collaboration with Cáritas of the Cee Pastoral Unit and the Concello of Cee. This initiative has been made possible through the support of five local optical shops, which have donated prescription glasses and provided eye exams to the beneficiaries.

Among the participating optical shops, Alain Afflelou and Óptica Safa stand out for their strong commitment to the community by contributing both technical and human resources. This effort has benefited users referred by Cáritas and the Social Services of the Concello, highlighting the importance of coordination between social and health sectors.

The culmination of this initiative took place last Thursday at the Casa de la Cultura in Cee, where an emotional thank-you ceremony was held. The event was attended by notable figures such as Ylenia Santos from the Ruta de la Luz Foundation and the local mayor, Margarita Lamela Louzán, among others.

During the event, the positive impact of this collaboration on the quality of life of the beneficiaries was emphasized. Pilar Farjas, director of Cáritas Diocesana, stressed the importance of such initiatives, underscoring that good vision is essential for people’s well-being. So far this year, Cáritas has assisted over 440 individuals and supported 150 families, a number that continues to grow, especially among newly arrived migrants from countries such as Venezuela and Colombia.

Cristina López Mora, manager of the Ruta de la Luz Foundation, highlighted the organization’s mission to ensure access to visual health services. She expressed gratitude to Essilor-Luxottica for their contribution of donated lenses, which has been crucial for the success of this project.

The Ruta de la Luz Foundation continues to develop various initiatives in the field of visual health, both in Spain and internationally, reaffirming its commitment to the most vulnerable populations and facilitating their access to essential resources that provide greater autonomy and quality of life.
