Samsung Appliances Receives Its First IoT Security Certification from TÜV Nord.

Samsung Electronics has made a significant advancement in the field of connected device security by announcing that two of its series of robotic vacuums, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam and the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo, as well as its smart refrigerators, the Bespoke AI, have received IoT security certification from TÜV Nord. This global certification organization, based in Germany, is recognized for its rigorous standards, and this is the first time that Samsung’s digital appliances have received its validation.

Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D for the Digital Appliance Division at Samsung, emphasized that the increasing global focus on smart home security drives the company to provide robust protection through its Knox security platform. The certification not only supports Samsung’s security technologies but also reflects its ongoing commitment to enhancing customer information protection.

The TÜV Nord certification is based on the ETSI EN 303 645 standard, which sets security and privacy requirements for consumer IoT devices throughout their lifecycle. The core criteria include data encryption, authentication, access control, secure software updates, personal data protection, and vulnerability management. With security regulations in Europe becoming increasingly stringent, this certification highlights Samsung’s readiness to meet international standards and its dedication to user safety in connected environments.

Additionally, the company has integrated various Knox security technologies into its appliances, providing robust defenses for user data, including verification of unauthorized firmware modifications upon powering on the device. Video recordings and user commands on the robotic vacuums are encrypted, ensuring they are only decrypted at their intended destination.

The security capabilities of the Bespoke AI 2025 refrigerators and the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam vacuum will be expanded with the integration of Knox Matrix and Knox Vault. Knox Matrix allows for mutual verification between devices, ensuring that users are immediately notified of any data theft risks. Meanwhile, Knox Vault protects sensitive personal information, such as passwords, by storing it in a dedicated hardware subsystem.

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam will be showcased at the IFA 2025 event in September, while the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and the Bespoke AI refrigerators are already being launched in select markets globally.
