Samsung Completes Industry’s Fastest LPDDR5X Validation for MediaTek Mobile Platform.

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in advanced memory technology, has announced today the successful verification of 10.7 gigabits per second (Gbps) LPDDR5X DRAM, the fastest in the industry, for use in MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity platform.

This verification of 10.7 Gbps operating speed was done using Samsung’s 16 gigabyte (GB) LPDDR5X package on MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9400 SoC, set to be released in the second half of this year. The two companies have worked closely and were able to complete this verification in just three months.

Samsung’s LPDDR5X DRAM offers over 25% improvement in power consumption and performance compared to the previous generation. This translates to longer battery life for mobile devices and enhanced performance in AI functions on the device, speeding up processes like text-to-speech generation without the need for access to servers or the cloud.

“Thanks to our strategic partnership with MediaTek, Samsung has verified the fastest industry LPDDR5X DRAM, ready to lead the AI smartphone market,” said YongCheol Bae, Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung will continue to innovate through active collaboration with customers and provide optimal solutions for the AI era in devices.”

Meanwhile, JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, stated: “Working with Samsung Electronics has enabled MediaTek’s next-generation Dimensity chipset to become the world’s first to be validated at LPDDR5X operating speeds of up to 10.7 Gbps, allowing upcoming devices to offer AI functionalities and mobile performance at a level we have never seen before. This updated architecture will make it easier for developers and users to harness more AI capabilities and utilize more features with less impact on battery life.”

With the expansion of the AI market in devices, especially in AI smartphones, high-performance and low-power LPDDR solutions are becoming increasingly relevant. Through this validation with MediaTek, Samsung is solidifying its technological leadership in the high-performance, low-power DRAM market, and these innovations are expected to be applied beyond mobile devices, including servers, PCs, and automotive devices.
