Samsung Electronics Achieves Carbon Reduction and Carbon Footprint Certifications for Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED for Fifth Consecutive Year.

Samsung Electronics has taken a significant step towards sustainability by announcing that approximately 80 of its models in the TV, monitor, and soundbar lines for 2025 have received Product Carbon Footprint and Product Carbon Reduction certifications. These certifications, awarded by the renowned organization TÜV Rheinland based in Germany, underscore the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

This achievement marks the fifth consecutive year in which the premium Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED lines have achieved these certifications. Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business, stated: “Samsung Electronics is committed to driving technological innovation for a sustainable future. As the world’s leading TV manufacturer, we will continue to lead the creation of a more energy-efficient ecosystem that benefits consumers.”

In 2024, Samsung had already certified 60 models in different categories such as Neo QLED, OLED, and lifestyle TVs. For 2025, the company has expanded its list of certified products to include QLED TVs as well. Additionally, it is working towards certification for its Color E-Paper range, which is expected to be ready later this year.

TÜV Rheinland certifications result from a comprehensive assessment of the lifecycle of each product, spanning from manufacturing and transportation to use and final disposal. These assessments, based on internationally recognized sustainability standards, highlight Samsung’s efforts to minimize its environmental impact.

In particular, the Product Carbon Reduction certification is awarded to those items that already have the Product Carbon Footprint certification and have demonstrated a measurable reduction in their emissions compared to previous versions. Since 2021, with the launch of the Neo QLED, which became the first 4K TV to receive the CO2 Reduction certification, Samsung has continued to expand its portfolio of certified products, including a wide range of energy-efficient TVs and monitors.
