Samsung Electronics, a global partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the smartphones category, organized an event in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on July 31 in Paris to launch and promote a new digital community for fans of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, called “Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People.”
The event took place at SPOT24, a multifunctional exhibition space in Paris dedicated to the 2024 Olympics, and was attended by IOC President Thomas Bach, IOC Television and Marketing Services MD Anne-Sophie Voumard, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons, Samsung Electronics President and Head of Global Marketing Office YH Lee, Samsung Electronics Europe President Il-kyung Sung, and Luc Abalo, a former French handball player and gold medalist and visual artist participating in the Artists in Olympics program led by the Olympic Museum for Paris 2024.
Former athletes such as Yeon Koung Kim, former Korean volleyball player, Andy Macdonald, British skater, Madison de Rozario, Australian para-athlete, and Matt Green, a British content creator known as “The Rapping Science Teacher,” will participate as global ambassadors of the project and actively share content about “Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People” through social media.
The “Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People” project, developed by Samsung and the IOC, aims to engage and actively involve fans of the Olympic and Paralympic movement worldwide, especially young people. It is focused on younger generations, with the goal of helping youth participants “resolve, move, and create in the spirit of Olympic values.”
This initiative features three new community challenges. The Resolve Challenge integrates sport and olympism with Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow program, a youth-focused social contribution initiative that empowers young people to design innovative solutions using sport and technology. The Move Challenge encourages fans of the Olympics worldwide to stand up and walk more with the help of Samsung smartphones. Finally, the Create Challenge allows participants to be creative in a community of digital artists using smart devices and Samsung’s S Pen.
At the launch event, the ten winning teams of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow program were announced as ambassadors of “Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People.” During the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, these ambassadors will showcase the solutions they have created to address social challenges and work to engage Olympic fans worldwide. They will also collaborate with the IOC Young Leaders on various initiatives to promote sustainable development.
During the event, the ambassadors shared their Solve for Tomorrow projects designed to tackle real-world issues, presenting a variety of innovative solutions ranging from aids for visually impaired individuals to new ways to promote workplace safety.
Ngan Huu Kim Le, a member of the United States team that developed an insect-based environmental solution, commented: “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow empowers high school students with the value of changing the world. It is an honor to participate and have the opportunity to present our solution to help build a brighter future for our planet here in Paris 2024 alongside outstanding athletes from around the world.”
IOC President Thomas Bach stated, “I am impressed by the opportunities that Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has provided to hundreds of thousands of young people to develop as future leaders. They will be our innovators of tomorrow, and I look forward to seeing how they address the various challenges facing our world. We are pleased to join our global partner Samsung in continuing to work together in identifying and supporting talented young people at the intersection of sport and technology through the ‘Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People’ initiative.”
“This project – creating a program in which young people can directly participate and experience Olympic values – is a wonderful outcome of our long-standing collaboration with the IOC,” said YH Lee, President and Head of Global Marketing Office at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to support young people in tackling bold and meaningful challenges towards a brighter future.”
