Samsung Electronics Triumphs with 45 Awards, Including 2 Golds, at the 2024 International Design Excellence Awards.

Samsung Electronics has been awarded for its excellence in design at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2024. The company received two gold awards, one silver, and two bronze, in addition to having 40 finalists in various categories of this prestigious program organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Founded in 1980, IDEA recognizes outstanding achievements in industrial design, evaluating criteria such as Design Innovation, User Benefit, and Societal Benefit.

Samsung’s design was highlighted for reflecting the company’s changing values and innovative technology. “These awards are an important validation of our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of design while ensuring that our creations resonate with people,” commented TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Corporate Design Center. Roh added that the company will continue to focus on developing innovative designs that enrich the lives of its users.

Among the awards, Samsung took home two golds for “Galaxy AI UX” and “Advanced Design Concepts for Appliance Accessories.” “Galaxy AI UX” introduces meaningful intelligence to enhance everyday life, enabling seamless communication anytime, anywhere. Its features include language interpreter, live voice call translation, note assistant, navigation assistant, and chat assistant. Meanwhile, the second gold was for a sustainable design that facilitates the maintenance and disposal of appliance accessories.

The silver award was granted to the innovative “Galaxy Z Flip 5,” a foldable smartphone with a larger cover screen, optimizing the user experience.

Samsung received two bronzes for “Galaxy Tab S9 Series” and “AI Vision Inside.” The Galaxy Tab S9 series combines the portability of a tablet with the powerful functionality of a laptop. Meanwhile, “AI Vision Inside” allows the “Bespoke 4-Door Flex™” refrigerator to track fresh foods thanks to its food recognition technology, thus managing the food list.

Additionally, Samsung was recognized for other innovations that were finalists, including the “Neo QLED 8K” TV, the “Music Frame” wireless speaker, the “Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™” washer and dryer, and the “Easy Setting Box” monitor, as well as the special edition “Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition Package.”
