Samsung Food enhances the culinary experience at IFA 2024.

Samsung Electronics recently announced new features and updates for Samsung Food, its AI-powered personalized recipe and food platform, in celebration of its first anniversary. These enhancements will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. Since its launch at last year’s CES, Samsung Food has amassed over six million users, solidifying itself as an essential tool in meal planning and home cooking. Its most popular functions include recipes, shopping lists, and meal planners.

“At a time when people are looking to get more out of their food with the help of their appliances, we are excited to enhance Samsung Food with new powerful functionalities,” commented Moohyung Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Customer Experience Team for Samsung Electronics’ digital appliances business. “With a key focus on user experiences, we will continue to improve the platform with AI and other technologies to make meal preparation easier, simpler, and healthier.”

Samsung Food is a comprehensive platform available across various Samsung devices, including and beyond home appliances. Samsung Food+, the premium subscription service, enhances the experience by integrating a health profile and personal goals, offering personalized meal plans with recipe recommendations. The Vision AI technology, now added to Samsung Food+, allows users to add items to their shopping list simply by taking a photo with their smartphone. Additionally, for those with Bespoke refrigerators featuring the Family Hub™ screen without the Vision AI internal camera, this functionality will also allow for easy addition of items to their shopping list through photos.

Samsung Food+ subscribers will also enjoy benefits such as automatic addition of purchased ingredients to their shopping list upon checkout in-store or online, and recipe searches based on the contents of this list. They will also receive alerts to use products before their expiration date, helping to reduce food waste.

The subscription service also provides meal plans based on the user’s shopping list, supporting sustainable eating practices by prioritizing ingredients with approaching expiration dates. The new “Search with your shopping list” feature will display recipes using the listed ingredients, offering ideas on what to cook with what is available. Additionally, recipes are recommended based on the shopping list and any used ingredients are suggested to add to the shopping list, helping to maintain inventory, reduce food waste, and ensure meals are fresh and tasty.

The platform also incorporates enhanced tools to help users maintain their health and achieve their wellness goals, offering nutrition-focused meal plans that monitor daily caloric intake. “Personalized plans” deliver weekly recipe and snack recommendations based on users’ nutritional needs, selected diets, and previous recipe preferences. Samsung Food+ allows users to receive recommendations throughout the week, considering ingredient expiration dates as well.

Currently available in eight languages in 104 countries, Samsung Food will ensure that all updates are accessible in each of the languages and regions where it is available.
