Samsung Electronics has announced today the launch of its innovative Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ in the European market, coinciding with the IFA 2024 trade show in Berlin. This revolutionary appliance, first introduced at last year’s IFA event, combines washing and drying in a single space-efficient device, promising to redefine the laundry experience in Europe through the use of artificial intelligence and heat pump technology.
Moohyung Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Team for Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliance Business, expressed excitement about the product’s arrival in Europe. “As the world, and Europe in particular, prioritizes smarter and more efficient appliances, we are thrilled to launch the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ in the region. By integrating AI and heat pump technology, we aim to offer our customers a more convenient and energy-efficient laundry experience,” said Lee.
The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ is designed to optimize space without sacrificing functionality. This all-in-one combo performs washing and drying in a single appliance, saving space and eliminating the need to transfer clothes from one machine to another after the washing cycle. The AI Wash & Dry function utilizes advanced sensors to optimize the washing and drying of each load, detecting weight, fabric type, and dirt level to adjust water and detergent times and amounts automatically.
In addition to its operational efficiency, the combo stands out for its energy efficiency. During the washing cycle, it is up to 20% more efficient than the A energy efficiency class, and the combined washing and drying cycle also meets the A rating of the same class. These remarkable features are achieved through heat pump drying technology, which continuously recycles hot air and optimizes heat transfer, reducing drying time by 60% and energy consumption by 75%.
The user experience is enhanced with the inclusion of AI Home, a 7-inch LCD display that serves as the appliance’s control center and other connected home devices. This display provides detailed information on washing cycles, detergent and energy usage, and recommendations based on usage habits. It also facilitates the monitoring and control of other connected appliances in the home through a 3D map view and support from Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, which has been updated to understand complex commands and assist users in case of display errors.
