Samsung Electronics has recently unveiled its new line of smart refrigerators, a significant evolution of its concept of “Screens Everywhere”, a previously announced approach at CES 2025. This new range includes 4-door refrigerator models, both in French door and side-by-side versions, equipped with 9-inch screens that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Some models also feature an enhanced version of the Family Hub, another innovation within this category.
Among the standout features is the AI Vision Inside function, which is integrated into select 4-door and French door 4-door models. This function allows for more precise identification of a total of 37 types of foods, both fresh and processed, and assists in meal planning, providing users with a much more intuitive cooking experience.
Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and leader of the R&D team for the digital appliances sector at Samsung, highlighted the importance of offering a wide variety of refrigerators with different types and sizes of screens, in order to meet the diverse needs of contemporary households. According to Moon, these innovations provide greater flexibility in appliance design and promote a smarter and more connected experience.
The new Samsung refrigerators are designed to enhance four essential areas of daily life: food management, home connectivity, family communication, and entertainment. In the realm of food, the AI Vision Inside function not only allows for food identification, but also offers personalized recipe recommendations, adapting to the needs of each user and making the culinary experience smoother.
In addition to optimizing food management, the screens of these refrigerators enhance connectivity with the smart home, acting as a control center for connected appliances. With the Map View function, users can monitor and control third-party devices, like smart lights and plugs. The SmartThings Energy option allows for tracking energy consumption, aiding in the optimization of energy usage in the home. The interface also facilitates access to home information and interaction through voice commands using Bixby.
The new Daily Board provides real-time updates, keeping all family members informed. From weather forecasts and daily scheduling to reports on energy consumption, this function adapts to the user thanks to integration with Bixby, providing personalized responses.
Furthermore, the refrigerators redefine the entertainment experience in the kitchen. With Spotify integration, users can listen to their favorite music or podcasts directly from the refrigerator. The SmartView Mirroring function allows for easy sharing of mobile device screens or Samsung TVs, and a dedicated gallery offers the ability to display family photos, adding a personal touch to the culinary atmosphere.
The new range includes several models, all designed to meet the demands of modern households. For example, the 4-door refrigerators feature AI Hybrid Cooling technology, which helps maintain product freshness for longer, and a design that facilitates installation in small spaces, as well as features like a door that opens automatically with a light touch.
With this move, Samsung continues to push the boundaries of the connected kitchen, turning refrigerators into true smart centers that improve food management, integrate the smart home, and offer entertainment options, redefining the user’s interaction with their appliances.
