Catalan singer-songwriter Sandra Bautista has achieved significant recognition in her musical career by being awarded at the prestigious Andrea Parodi competition, held in Sardinia. Bautista won six awards, including the Absolute Prize, the Critics’ Prize, and the Bianca D’Aponte International Prize, as well as receiving mentions in the categories of Best Music, Best Arrangement, and the Young Audience Prize.
This achievement is particularly important, as it is the first time that a song in Catalan has received such distinction in this event dedicated to world music. Her composition “Cartografia,” part of her latest album “Intuir el tigre” (2024), impressed a jury composed of 50 Italian musicians and journalists, supported by nine international critics.
From her self-taught beginnings, Sandra Bautista has shown constant growth in the musical field. Her debut in 2017 with the demo “La casa de les mil olors” and her victory in the Sona9 competition in 2018, which led her to record her first album “Trapezista,” laid the foundations for her outstanding career. Despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic, Bautista continued to develop her art, offering concerts throughout Spain and dedicating herself to composition.
“Intuir el tigre,” her most recent record project, shows a bold fusion of languages and musical styles, including songs in Catalan, Spanish, and Portuguese, with influences from Brazilian music, electronic music, pop, and Latin American folklore. This album showcases Bautista’s evolution as an artist, who has managed to establish herself in the singer-songwriter scene and bring Catalan music to an international stage, standing out for her unique and universal proposal.
