Schneider Electric Achieves Landmark Certification in Cybersecurity for EcoStruxure™ IT DCIM

Schneider Electric has achieved a significant milestone in the cybersecurity sector by obtaining a prestigious certification for its Network Management Card 3 (NMC3). This company, leading the digital transformation in energy management and automation, has become the first in the industry to achieve the IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 (SL2) certification from the International Electrotechnical Commission. This achievement represents a significant advancement in protection against cybersecurity threats for EcoStruxure IT data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions.

The certification was independently conducted by TÜV Rheinland, an entity that has verified that the NMC3 platform meets stringent security standards. This rigorous testing and evaluation process ensures that products designed for data centers and distributed IT environments not only meet the highest security demands, but are also prepared to face modern cybersecurity threats. In addition, TÜV Rheinland has recognized Schneider Electric’s cybersecurity processes, such as the NMC3 product development, with ISASecure® Secure Development Lifecycle Assurance (SDLA) compliance.

Kevin Brown, Senior Vice President of EcoStruxure IT at Schneider Electric, highlights the relevance of this certification in a context where cybersecurity incidents are the top business concern, as indicated by the Allianz Risk Barometer 2024. With an average cost exceeding $4 million per incident, this certification reinforces Schneider Electric’s position as a leader in cybersecurity, providing solutions that reduce risks for critical infrastructure.

A key component of this initiative is the EcoStruxure IT Secure NMC system, designed to revolutionize firmware update management. This system promises up to 90% faster update process, facilitating the identification and installation of the latest updates and simplifying a traditionally laborious and error-prone task. Additionally, the system provides a uniform and standard compliance model, eliminating the need for manual firmware search and ensuring that critical infrastructures are protected with the latest security updates.

Kevin Brown adds that “EcoStruxure IT is offering customers an innovative approach: flexibility to manage IT infrastructure simply, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, as protection does not necessarily have to be complex.” With this dual certification, Schneider Electric reaffirms its commitment to the resilience, security, and sustainability of IT infrastructure, positioning itself at the forefront of cybersecurity management solutions.
