In recent months, Schneider Electric has made significant progress in its sustainability initiatives in Spain and Portugal, strengthening its ecological commitment in the Iberian Peninsula. The company, a leader in energy management and automation, has made 12 of its local facilities Zero CO₂ and 17 operate exclusively on renewable energy, demonstrating its commitment to a more sustainable future. This is part of the Green Fleet program, which aims to convert more than 300 vehicles to electric or hybrid models, with the goal of having a fully electric fleet by 2030.
The Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program monitors and evaluates the company’s progress in various Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. In the third quarter of 2024, these efforts have yielded encouraging results, surpassing the goal of providing access to green and reliable energy to 50 million people ahead of time. This has been made possible through projects in Africa and India, where hybrid solar solutions have been implemented in health clinics and schools.
In the educational field, Schneider Electric has benefited over 763,000 people with energy management training programs. In collaboration with Enactus, students from ten countries have created business solutions to address energy transition issues, underscoring the company’s commitment to education and professional development.
Furthermore, through its Zero Carbon Project, the company has reduced its operational CO₂ emissions by 36%, providing workshops and seminars to help its suppliers decarbonize. Xavier Denoly, Senior Vice President of Sustainable Development at Schneider Electric, has emphasized the importance of these achievements in the fight against climate change, while highlighting the need to continue intensifying efforts.
In the Iberian region, the Circular Place platform has been key to its circular economy strategy, enabling the donation of thousands of units of electrical material to NGOs and educational entities, resulting in a significant reduction of waste.
Schneider Electric has been globally recognized for its sustainable efforts, receiving awards such as the RE100 Changemaker Award from the Climate Group and standing out as a leader in building decarbonization consulting by Verdantix. The company continues to lead with determination in the sustainability field, reaffirming its commitment to creating a positive impact both locally and globally. This approach has earned it increasing recognition in the industry, demonstrating how companies can significantly contribute to global sustainability.
