Scientific poster on the CIPAT receives award at the XXXIX Meetings of the Spanish Society of Paleontology.

In the last few days, La Coruña witnessed a notable scientific event during the Spanish Society of Paleontology (SEP) Conference, where a poster about the Paleontological and Archaeological Interpretation Center of Tamajón (CIPAT) received significant recognition. Presented by researcher Senay Ozkaya, the poster analyzed the feedback from CIPAT visitors through surveys conducted at the end of their visit, with the aim of continuously improving the educational activities of the center.

The work, titled “Hear Me Out! Analysing feedback from visitors of the Paleontological and Archaeological Interpretation Centre of Tamajón (CIPAT, Guadalajara, Spain)”, received the award for best communication in poster format. This project is the result of collaboration between several researchers, including Fernando Barroso, Mélani Berrocal, Pedro Callapez, and Sergio García.

The mayor of Tamajón, Eugenio Esteban, expressed his satisfaction and congratulated the scientific team of the PaleoIbérica Research Group at the University of Alcalá. Esteban highlighted the importance of CIPAT, opened in 2021, not only for attracting over 10,000 visitors from around the world, but also for its role in combating depopulation in the region, promoting the cultural and socio-economic value of the area.

CIPAT is organized into three main areas: the “Paleontological Area”, the “Archaeological Area”, which is divided into the “Human Evolution” and “Tamajón Stone” rooms, and the “Educational Area”. These sections combine real fossils, archaeological remains, and interactive educational solutions, offering visitors a unique and enriching experience.

The continuous improvement of CIPAT content is carried out through data analysis obtained from a ‘Feedback Panel’ for children and general surveys for adults. These data reflect the positive impact of educational resources on the understanding of paleontological and archaeological concepts, promoting scientific literacy and an active attitude towards the preservation of natural and cultural heritage.

The award obtained by the scientific poster highlights the continuous effort of the CIPAT team to offer a quality educational experience and its contribution to the knowledge and appreciation of paleontology and archaeology in society.
