It is the only Nancy Collectors Association since the birth of the doll in 1968 and the only one of its kind.
In 2014, three residents of Pontevedra decided to create ACONFAMOSA, the “Association of Nancy Famosa Collectors,” an association of collectors of which Nancy Famosa is undoubtedly the reference doll in Spain, the most well-known and beloved. Nancy from Famosa has been accompanying entire generations since its creation in 1968 and its collectors number in the thousands. For example, ACONFAMOSA has more than seventeen thousand followers on social networks who follow with interest all the news and publications of the Association every day, but also treasure in their showcases and shelves Nancy dolls and similar ones that currently have a double value: on one hand, the economic value (there are pieces that can easily surpass a thousand euros), and, on the other hand, the sentimental value, which is incalculable as these dolls have sometimes accompanied their owners since childhood.
The event will take place in Pontevedra, the place where this interesting cultural association was founded, at the Pazo de Colón located in Poio, and its members will stay at the Hotel Carlos I Silgar in Sanxenxo. “We have been very careful and demanding regarding the places where our event will take place, because we were also interested in showing a small part of the wonderful places in the Rías Baixas region, cradle of ACONFAMOSA and, without a doubt, Pazo de Colón and the hotel Carlos I Silgar more than meet our expectations,” in the words of its president and founder, Sofía Remiseiro.
The Anniversary event will not only celebrate the history of Nancy from Famosa, but also the unity and commitment of ACONFAMOSA members to collecting, researching, and disseminating its evolution.
“Nancy is not only a collectible object, but a symbol of our childhood and a bridge between generations,” expressed Sofía Remiseiro.
Furthermore, to commemorate this Anniversary, ACONFAMOSA has created an exclusive edition of stamps with Correos that become collectible items themselves, and throughout these ten years, numerous actions have been carried out in support of children and vulnerable groups in collaboration with the Red Cross, always using collecting and Famosa dolls for their realization.
The Board of Directors of ACONFAMOSA, made up of Sonia Tourón and José Otero in addition to Sofía Remiseiro, the three founding members, are fulfilling this term and anniversary by making ACONFAMOSA a reference in Nancy collectibles, who along with her friend Lucas, her sister Lesly, and her iconic star friend named Selene (whose reissue is currently on sale in toy stores), live on in the memories of thousands of people in and out of Spain.
