The Czech Project in Lanzarote by OOOOX Triumphs at the APE Architecture Group Awards.

The recent edition of the APE Group Architecture Awards has featured the Czech architecture studio OOOOX, whose renovation project of the “Villa Amonita” in Lanzarote has been awarded the prestigious prize. These awards, celebrating their second edition, are a recognition of excellence in architecture, with a particular focus on the innovative use of ceramics.

The jury, led by renowned architect Francisco Mangado, Gold Medal of Fine Arts, along with prominent figures such as designer Francesc Rifé and Susana Babiloni, president of the College of Architects of Castellón, had the task of evaluating 47 proposals from different parts of the world, highlighting the multiculturalism and diversity of the competition.

The “Villa Amonita” was specially praised for its ability to harmoniously integrate the characteristic volcanic landscape of Lanzarote with an innovative architectural design. Its use of smooth white ceramic stood out, creating an exquisite balance between the natural environment and the architectural construction. The simplicity and elegance in the handling of colors and materials generated an atmosphere that invites to enjoy life on the island in a unique and refined way.

In addition to the main prize, an honorable mention was awarded to the “Restaurante Caruso” in Santo Domingo, a design by the Arquimilio studio. The jury valued its freshness and ability to develop its own architectural language, subtly integrating elements of Caribbean tradition. This approach created a unique visual and sensory experience in the restaurant’s interior space.

The APE Group Architecture Awards, which include a cash prize of 5,000 euros, are open to professionals from around the world, thus recognizing the most creative and outstanding contributions in the field of contemporary architecture. This year’s edition reaffirms the importance of dialogue between architecture and its environments, highlighting the vital role that architects play in the interpretation and respect for the natural and cultural context in which they develop their projects.
