The Dorsia Sailing Team has wrapped up its participation in the 43rd edition of the Copa del Rey de Vela, achieving a prominent position in the TOP 10 of the overall standings. This edition of the cup has been one of the most competitive in recent years, highlighting the team’s success even further.
With an impressive performance, the Dorsia Sailing Team reached the semifinals in a highly demanding elimination format, establishing itself as a leading force in the sailing world at both national and international levels. The team captain, Nuria Sánchez Nomdedeu, expressed her satisfaction with the result, noting that “the Copa del Rey is one of the most challenging events on the circuit, and making it into the TOP 10 reflects the hard work, perseverance, and passion with which we compete.”
The 2025 season has been particularly fruitful for the team, which has accumulated several significant achievements, including a gold medal at the Spanish Championship in the Mixed category, a bronze medal at the World Championship in the Absolute category, and the title of champions at the 29TabarcaVela. All of these results, including their recent placement in the TOP 10 of the Copa del Rey, underline the promising trajectory of the Dorsia Sailing Team.
The competition schedule will extend until November, with the season’s conclusion anticipated at the Winter Series in Valencia. Fadela Hamza, Marketing Director of WM Clinics, the team’s main sponsor, celebrated this achievement, emphasizing that supporting the Dorsia Sailing Team goes beyond commercial interests. “It’s a commitment to talent, equality in sports, and the values we share as a brand: effort, perseverance, and overcoming challenges,” Hamza stated, underscoring the importance of promoting equality in 2025.
The team is comprised of a multidisciplinary crew, including Spanish-Portuguese Olympic sailor Sara Carmo, pre-Olympic sailor Marga Perelló, as well as other talented members like Lara Himes, Natalia Vía-Dufresne, María Teresa Alonso, Juanma Barrionuevo, Nete Armas, and José Manuel Ruiz. This blend of experience and talent enables them to successfully tackle the most challenging races in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
Since its inception in 2019, the Dorsia Sailing Team has emerged as a benchmark in the sailing world, not only for its numerous titles, which include world and national championships, but also for its noble work as ambassadors for women’s sports, innovation, and equality. In 2022, they became pioneers by forming mixed teams recognized by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and received the National Sailing Award for Best Women’s Sports Project, further solidifying their legacy in the sport.
