Sto Ibérica, the Spanish subsidiary of the well-known German multinational specialized in construction systems, celebrates its 20th anniversary in the Spanish market, consolidating itself as a reference in sustainable construction. Since its arrival in Spain in 2004, the company has managed to install more than 2 million square meters of ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Systems), which has had a significant impact on the reduction of CO2 emissions in the country. According to estimates, Sto systems contribute annually to a saving of 20,000 tons of CO2 in buildings heated with diesel and 13,680 tons in those using gas.
The construction industry is responsible for nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions, a fact that highlights the importance of the work carried out by Sto in the fight against climate change. José Almagro, the company’s general manager, has emphasized the need to improve the existing real estate stock in Spain, which is among the oldest in Europe. In his statements, he emphasizes that constant innovation and a strong commitment to sustainability are essential to build a more conscious future.
Throughout these 20 years, Sto Ibérica has participated in more than 1000 architectural projects in the country, offering a variety of products ranging from thermal and acoustic insulation systems to ventilated facade solutions. Some of the most recent projects include the Angra do Heroísmo Interpretive Center in the Azores and various initiatives in Madrid.
The company’s growth in the last five years has been remarkable, positioning Spain as one of its most promising markets. To sustain this upward trajectory, Sto continues to invest in innovation through its R&D department, which includes more than 160 employees worldwide. This year, the company aims to continue developing its StoTherm system, launching new solutions that integrate renewable materials and technologies including solar energy.
One of the latest innovations presented by the company is StoSignature, a render that allows a wide variety of designs to create unique facades. Almagro highlights that the company’s ability to innovate not only benefits its customers but also helps mitigate the environmental impact of construction. With this focus, Sto Ibérica is committed to continue leading the market in the coming years, paving the way towards a more sustainable future.
