The Green Legacy: Ecovidrio Celebrates the Heroes of the Bonfires

The City Council of Alicante, in collaboration with Ecovidrio, has launched a new initiative to promote sustainability during the iconic Hogueras de San Juan 2025. This project aims to recognize and honor the work of groups such as bonfire artists, musicians, pyrotechnicians, and costume makers, who play a fundamental role in the transition to more ecological and environmentally responsible festivities.

With green as the emblematic color of the campaign, an audiovisual spot has been created that can be viewed on a dedicated website for the initiative. This video captures everyday and artisanal moments from the protagonists of the celebration, where each action transforms into a green burst, symbolizing respect for the environment and ecological awareness. Through this work, the aim is to publicly express gratitude for the efforts and commitment of these groups in fostering a more sustainable celebration.

The aesthetic of the project combines traditional elements of the Hogueras with a modern approach, presenting scenes in black and white that are revitalized with touches of green. This visual representation not only reinforces the campaign’s message but also stimulates dialogue about the importance of enjoying festivities with environmental awareness.

Ecovidrio emphasizes the need for glass recycling in the fight against climate change, highlighting that recycled glass can be reused indefinitely to produce new containers. This process helps reduce the extraction of raw materials and lowers CO2 emissions during production. Additionally, glass recycling helps mitigate landfill growth and saves energy.

Since its establishment in 1997, Ecovidrio has implemented an efficient and sustainable recycling system, supported by nearly 6,000 packaging companies. Currently, in Spain, seven out of ten glass containers are recycled, reflecting the positive impact of this collaborative effort. The proposal seeks not only to keep the essence of the festivities alive but also to engage the community in a genuine commitment to environmental care and sustainability.
