The Council of Ministers has approved an investment of 6 million euros for the Ibermedia Program, which main objective is to support digital animation. This measure is part of the second phase of the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and follows the 3.3 million euros that had already been allocated in a first line of grants between 2023 and 2024.
The Ibermedia Program, which involves the collaboration of several Latin American countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru, in addition to Spain, will present a new series of specific aids. These will be managed through two calls scheduled for the years 2024 and 2025, and will be aimed at integrating new technologies in digital animation and audiovisual content. Special priority will be given to projects that incorporate virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and extended reality (XR) environments.
The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), under the Ministry of Culture, will be in charge of managing this investment, which uses funds from the Spain Audiovisual Hub component of the PRTR. This strategy not only seeks to promote Spain as a reference in the Ibero-American field, but also aims to promote the development of innovative audiovisual formats in terms of form and content.
It is hoped that these grants will boost creativity and innovation within the audiovisual sector, while reinforcing the cultural and economic ties between Spain and the other countries that are part of the Ibermedia Program.
