The New Trends in Hotel Reservations for 2025 in Spain: Foreigners, Peak Seasons, and Advance Booking.

A recent report on hotel booking trends has highlighted a promising outlook for the tourism sector in Spain, solidifying the country as one of the most attractive destinations in the world. According to SiteMinder’s “Hotel Booking Trends 2025” study, online hotel bookings surpassed 125 million in 2024, reflecting a growing interest from travelers, especially from foreign origins.

The analysis reveals that over 60% of visitors staying in Spanish hotels were international tourists. Despite an increase in average room rates, reaching 212 euros and 247 euros in August, the peak month, bookings continued to rise. This reaffirms Spain’s attractiveness as a tourist destination, despite the price increase.

The high travel season has also shown signs of expansion. While August remained the busiest month, there was an increase in arrivals during the months of May and October, suggesting that travelers are choosing to plan their stays further in advance. In fact, the report highlights a 6% growth in the lead time for bookings, with an average of 39.41 days.

Tamara Jiménez, SiteMinder’s regional director for Spain, emphasizes that these results reflect the country’s enduring appeal and the need for hoteliers to adapt to changes in traveler preferences. According to her, companies that use data to anticipate trends will be better positioned to thrive in the sector.

The report also provides an analysis of the main booking channels used by hotels in Spain. Booking.com and direct bookings through hotel websites top the list, followed by platforms like Expedia and Hotelbeds. This year, Agoda has managed to stand out, ranking tenth, driven by a notable increase in arrivals from Asia.

These findings underscore not only a record year for the hotel industry in Spain but also a shift in traveler behavior, seeking more flexibility. The future of tourism in the country looks promising, highlighting the importance of adaptation and anticipation of emerging trends. Detailed information is available in SiteMinder’s full report.
